A new inventory to assess childhood social anxiety and phobia: the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory for Children

Article Abstract:

Assessment of the development, reliability and validity of the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory for Children revealed the versatility of this instrument in analyzing childhood anxiety and fear and its potential utility in enhancing clinical assessment and documenting treatment outcomes. This instrument has a high test-retest reliability and internal consistency in distinguishing between socially anxious and non-socially-anxious children.

Development of an abbreviated social phobia and anxiety inventory (SPAI) using item response theory: The SPAI-23

Article Abstract:

Nonparametric item response theory methods are used to develop and evaluate an abbreviated version of the Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory (SPAI), called SPAI-23. The study results found that the SPAI-23 is promising as a brief method of social anxiety and demonstrates initial psychometric properties equivalent to the SPAI.

The Social Thoughts and Beliefs Scale: a new inventory for assessing cognitions in social phobia

Article Abstract:

The development and initial psychometric features of the Social Thoughts and Beliefs Scale (STABS) are discussed. Adequate test-retest reliability and internal consistency found that the total and two factor scores significantly differentiated individuals with social phobia from those in other groups.
