A note on perceptions of loan duration and repayment

Article Abstract:

Previous research was conducted on the impact of supplementary information on debtors' perceptions of loan duration. Such studies are based on the theory that estimates of loan duration and repayment periods are rendered more accurate given information about interest rates. Estimation of loan durations among three different samples are compared in the presence of mean monthly interest payments, total interest charges and annual rate of interest. The results confirm persistent underestimation of loan durations, but showed that more experienced debtors were more accurate than younger respondents.
