A personal perspective concerning homicide investigation

Article Abstract:

Proper homicide investigations require trained and experienced detectives who can expertly evaluate situations of violent death and conduct detailed inquiries. Detectives must be able to work and communicate with teams of other professionals. While remaining emotionally detached, detectives may notify surviving family members, assist them in identifying the body, and guide them as the case progresses through the justice system.

Correlates of visitation in a men's prison

Article Abstract:

Prison inmates whose visitors are mainly family members receive a greater number of visits and visitors. Visitation is also correlated with nearness to the prison. A study of prison visitation at a medium-security institution in Nevada corroborated these results. Prior clinical literature suggests that visits are helpful to prison adjustment and resocialization after release from prison.

Fearful custodial or fearless personal relations: prison guards' fear as a factor shaping staff-inmate relation prototype

Article Abstract:

Fearful and insecure correctional staff are likely to assume punitive staff-inmate relations. This was confirmed by a self-report staff questionnaire at Ayalan, a maximum-security prison in Israel. Support from prison administration and enhanced job security will lessen fear and insecurity and make staff more amenable to the rehabilitation approach becoming current in prison work.
