A psychometric perspective on psychophysiological measures

Article Abstract:

Comparison of psychophysiological measures with other behavioral measures show that psychophysiological measures can assess fundamentally different processes and also the similar processes more sensitively. The psychophysiological measures have made crucial contributions in the study of psychopathology and psychotherapy. However, empirical findings reveal that temporal stability of psychophysiological research is variable. Selection of the proper methodological tools for optimizing the reliability and temporal stability of the psychophysiological measures is imperative.
