Abstractionist and processing accounts of implicit learning

Article Abstract:

This study uses five experiments to examine the cognitive processes involved in learning an artificial grammar through memorization and hypothesis-testing training. Findings indicate that memorizing subjects employed explicit fragment knowledge when identifying test item grammar but hypothesis-testers had greater success in classifying items due to passive abstraction of grammatical rules.

German inflection: single route or dual route?

Article Abstract:

This article investigates the cognitive and linguistic aspects of inflectional morphology associated with the German plural system.
