Affective determinants of treatment engagement in violent offenders

Article Abstract:

A study is presented to show that the relationship between affect and treatment engagement can be understood by three ways such as the access the client has to emotional states, the ability to express such states and the willingness of the client to do this in the therapeutic session. It is suggested that the affective determinants of treatment readiness can be understood with reference to models of emotional regulation.
