Are parental health habits transmitted to their children? An eight year longitudinal study of physical activity in adolescents and their parents

Article Abstract:

A longitudinal study of two generations examined associations between parentsE self-reported leisure-time physical activity changes and the self-reported physical activity changes of their offspring in a sample of adolescents over an 8-year period. Results did not support the hypothesis that adolescents' leisure covaried with their parentsE leisure-time physical activity over time, indicating that parental physical activity is not transmitted to their children to the degree that is often believed.
