Belief term development in children with autism, Asperger syndrome, specific language impairment, and normal development: Links to theory of mind development

Article Abstract:

Children with autism and Asperger syndrome, matched with children with specific language impairment and normal development, were given false belief, belief term comprehension and belief term expression tasks. The autistic group's performance was much poorer than than of the Asperger, language impaired and normal groups on the false belief, belief term comprehension and belief term expression tasks.

Predictors of outcome among high functioning children with autism and Asperger syndrome

Article Abstract:

This article examines language skills and social functioning among high functioning children with autism and Asperger syndrome. The authors conclude that early intervention programs influence language skills but more work needs to be done to assess social skills.
