Binge eating and other psychopathology in patients with type II diabetes mellitus

Article Abstract:

Research into the rates of binge eating disorder and other psychopathology in type II diabetes mellitus is presented. It was found that binge eating disorder was present in around 25% of patients with type II diabetes mellitus surveyed. However, it is uncertain whether the rates of binge eating disorder are connected only with body mass index.

Mortality from eating disorders - a 5- to 10-year record linkage study

Article Abstract:

There are high crude mortality rates and standardized mortality ratios for anorexia nervosa (AN) and rather lower rates for bulimia nervosa (BN), according to research in which the morality rate for AN and BN was calculated using MINNDEX in a cohort of eating-disordered patients treated by psychiatric emergency room service over five- to 10-year follow up. The higher mortality rate for AN than the 5.9% found in a recent meta-analysis could be connected with the study setting, or could be due to the very high ascertainment rate.
