Body image of 4-8 year old girls at the outset of their first artistic gymnastics class

Article Abstract:

This article examines the level of body dissatisfaction among young girls who enroll in their first gymnastic class. The authors, comparing body image of girls enrolling in gymnastic classes to girls not enrolling, conclude body images do not differ among groups, casting doubt on the notion that girls who are dissatisfied with their bodies tend to enroll in gymnastic classes.
