Cannabinoids, reproduction and sexual behavior

Article Abstract:

The effects of cannabis, widely used as a recreational drug and the potential role of the endocannabinoid system on sexual behavior and reproductive physiology are studied. Largely consistent results show that in both men and women, use of cannabis is adverse for reproductive processes, whereas its effects on sexual behavior and arousability are dose-dependent and sex-specific.

The experience of sexual emotions

Article Abstract:

The heuristic value of an emotion-theory perspective to the experience of sexual emotions based on the situation being appraised, autonomic response and readiness and feedback from behavioral response is studied using a working memory model. It is found that sexual stimuli, prior experience, gender difference and expectation of sexual reward influence the experience.

Role of the medial preoptic area/anterior hypothalamus in the control of masculine sexual behavior

Article Abstract:

This article examines research conducted to determine if the medial preoptic area/anterior hypothalamus (MPO/AH) is related to male sexual behavior. The authors conclude that the neurons of the MPO/AH are a part of the steroid-hormone sensitive neural circuit, which gives males the ability to identify a female partner and perform sexual intercourse.
