Childhood, adolescent, and young adult predictors of suicidal behaviors: a prospective study of African Americans

Article Abstract:

A cohort of young Black adults attributed the prevalence of their suicidal behaviors to social integration, depression and aggression/drug use. This means that African Americans are not different from other populations of similar case. Patterns of suicidal thoughts and attempts are generally the same by gender; except in family type and early childhood symptoms which are important factors for males, but not for females.
