Creating and field-testing diagnostic criteria for partner and child maltreatment

Article Abstract:

An integrated set of diagnostic criteria were created and field-tested in order to develop reliable definitions for partner and child maltreatment through abuse and neglect. Maltreatment criteria initially incorporated for adequate levels of content validity received feedback indicating ambiguities making them unsuitable for reliable application, while revised criteria were found to support 92% agreement between base adjucating committees and master reviewers.

Using random telephone sampling to recruit generalizable samples for family violence studies

Article Abstract:

Random digit dialing (RDD) is used to determine whether they could feasibly recruit generalizable samples for 2 studies. Time and cost are detailed, suggesting that RDD may be a feasible effective method by which to recruit a more generalizable samples for in-laboratory studies of family violence when those studies have sufficient resources.

Precipitants of partner aggression

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the precipitants of partner aggression. It was found that men were more likely than women to report partner physical aggression as the precipitant for their own mild physical aggression, although this was not true for maritally discordant individuals.
