Cultural psychology: implications for basic psychological theory

Article Abstract:

A a theoretical argument on the importance of culture in basic psychological processes is presented. Ways in which work in cultural psychology promotes basic psychological theory and studies on cognition and on the self were examined. Moreover, challenges associated with making culture an integral component of theory in psychology were analyzed. Obedience, justice, and the law: PS reviews recent contributions to a field ripe for new research efforts by psychological scientists

Article Abstract:

Three books dealing with legal-psychological issues are reviewed. Psychologists have devoted much time since the 1980s in researching this growing field of study. The books provide an insight on how judgments of law, justice and responsibility can be studied for a deeper understanding of the relationship between psychology and the law. The complex relationship between the citizen and the state are also explained.

Obedience versus disobedience to legitimate versus illegitimate authorities issuing good versus evil directives

Article Abstract:

It is suggested that there is still no adequate research on the topic of obedience and the mechanism which makes some people obey a law and others ignore a law.Although social psychologists have devoted countless research on compliance and social obedience, the fundamental question remains unanswered. Normative inquiry is lacking in most research dealing with rule obedience.
