Delivery of mental health services in the changing health care system

Article Abstract:

Managed care organizations can improve direct mental health service quality by taking advantage of the availability of data. Optimism is expressed toward the results of mental health research efforts conducted in managed care organizations, with the hope that the most effective and economical treatments for mental disorders will be developed. Health maintenance organizations (HMO) may play a key role in reengineering mental health services. However, psychologists should make optimal use of HMO elements that help define the best mental health service.
