Differential impact of father's authoritative parenting on early adolescent adjustment in conservative protestant versus other families

Article Abstract:

Study is conducted to determine whether well-established associations between authoritative parenting and adolescent adjustment pertain to conservative Protestant (CP) families. The hypothesis that adolescents in authoritarian parenting would less harm adolescents in CP families than would adolescents in control families was supported partially.

When family members go to war-A systematic perspective on harm and healing: Comment on Dirkzwager, Bramsen, Ader and van der Ploeg (2005)

The article by A.J.E. Dirkzwager, I. Bramsen, H. Ader and H.M. van der Ploeg (2005) provides compelling evidence of trauma transmission of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) from male peacekeepers to their female partners. The broad systemic emotional toll on couples when their partners go to war is illustrated.

Family dynamics in adolescence affect midlife well-being

Article Abstract:

The association between family system characteristics measured during adolescence and later midlife well-being is explored. The results support the importance of connection and individuation in the adolescent family for adult well-being.
