Intrapsychic and interpersonal factors related to adolescent psychological well-being in stepmother and stepfather families

Article Abstract:

Interpersonal factor of communication with the stepparent and the intrapsychic factor of self esteem are the best predictors of adolescent well being in stepmother families. However, the only interpersonal factor predictive of their well-being in stepfather families is communication with stepparent. Adolescent age at divorce acts as a predictor of positive affect in their subjective well-being. An analysis of adolescents from stepparents' families regarding the interpersonal and intrapsychic predictors of their well-being using transition theory is given.

Parental involvement, psychological distress, and sleep: A preliminary examination in sleep-disturbed adolescents with a history of substance abuse

Article Abstract:

The effects of parental involvement on psychological distress and sleep disturbance in adolescents with a history of substance abuse are studied. Results reveal that lower levels of parental involvement were found to be correlated with higher levels of psychological distress, and higher levels of psychological distress were correlated with lower sleep efficiency and more time spent in bed.

Parents of 5-year-old in vitro fertilization in children: psychological adjustment, parenting stress, and the influence of subsequent in vitro fertilization treatment

Article Abstract:

Responses to a survey are compared between parents who conceived via in vitro fertilization (IVF) and parents who conceived naturally. IVF parents reported lower parenting stress than did naturally conceiving parents, suggesting that IVF parents are highly motivated and/or more susceptible to defense responding.
