Empirically observed and statistically derived verbal-performance IQ discrepancies for the old age WAIS-R standardization sample

Article Abstract:

A formula for estimating abnormal Verbal-Performance IQ difference scores was analyzed using data on the actual distribution of difference scores in the old age WAIS-R standardization group. Results indicated similar estimated and actual discrepancies for each age group and for the entire sample. The study supports the validity of the formula with those 75 years and older.

Comparison of depression in the community-dwelling and assisted-living elderly

Article Abstract:

A comparative study of depression among the 351 community-dwelling and 102 assisted-living elders, using the Depression Adjective Check Lists (DACL), revealed significantly high depression scores for the assisted-living subjects. These results are suggestive of much-needed program initiatives to improve the quality of living of assisted-living elders.
