Discrimination, dispositions and cardiovascular responses to stress

Article Abstract:

A sample of 165 white and black adults underwent an anger recall task while thir cardiovascular function is being monitored. Slower recovery and higher reactivity to the task were observed among participants who experienced discimination in the past, and those who have low cynicism or high optimisim. Discrimination, being a chronic stressor specially among blacks, is further analyzed.
