Disordered eating patterns, body image, self-esteem, and physical activity in preadolescent school children

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on 61 preadolescent school children to establish the association between eating disorders, self-esteem, physical activity, body dissatisfaction, and disordered eating patterns by analysis of the PAQ, the SEQ, the E and M inventory and the body image inventory administered on the subjects. The results revealed that girls tend to become less dissatisfied with their body shape over time, that less frequent participation in physical activity is strongly associated with low self-esteem.
