Dissonance-based eating disorder prevention program: A preliminary dismantling investigation

Article Abstract:

A dissonance-based program aimed at reducing thin deal internalization is found to significantly decrease levels of bulimic symptoms in young adult and adolescent females. The study compared the original treatment program with a dismantled version of the full package, which consisted solely of the specific dissonance component.

The Tripartite influence model of body image and eating disturbance: a replication with a Japanese sample

Article Abstract:

The tripartite influence model of body image and eating disturbance is analyzed as a viable sociocultural explanation for the development of such problems with Japanese women. The results conclude that the sociocultural variables that influence body images and eating disturbances in Japanese are those similar to the U.S.

Viewership of pro-eating disorder websites: association with body image and eating disturbances

Article Abstract:

A study to evaluate the relationship between pro-eating disorder website viewership and concurrent levels of body dissatisfaction and eating disturbance is conducted. Results provide limited evidence about the association between website viewership and eating disturbances.
