Effects of Grouped and Individual Feedback on Retail Employee Performances

Article Abstract:

A study of the effects of feedback and contingent reinforcement on the performance of retail employees is presented. The study was conducted in a shopping mall drug store. Employee efficiency was measured by punctuality, gross number of transactions and the way employees turned money into the safe at the end of the shift. Study results show that accuracy, punctuality, and money handling were enhanced with individual feedback and individual feedback with reinforcement. Grouped feedback intervention had very little effect. This may be because this is a function of the nature of the work. A research review is included.

History and contribution of organizational behavior management to services for persons with developmental disabilities

Article Abstract:

The progress of the field of organizational behavior management (OBM) starting from behavior modification research, the establishment of a technology for adjusting staff behavior and recent studies on the evolution of behavior is examined. An ecological model of personnel behavior is presented by applying Bronfenbrenner's ecological model of human development. Managers should be cognizant of the existence of an effective method for changing a broad range of employee behaviors.

Some things I've learned about changing behavior in a Fortune 100 company

Article Abstract:

Manage-by-pay schemes work, but they may not work very well in complex organizational environments, because it is sometimes unclear which individual behaviors it is best to reinforce for the benefit of the overall organization. Changing contingencies for an entire team can affect the team's behavior. Such an approach, properly engineered, can perhaps solve problems caused by poorly designed manage-by-pay schemes.
