Effects of coping style and BRCA1 and BRCA2 test results on anxiety among women participating in genetic counseling and testing for breast and ovarian cancer risk

Article Abstract:

This article examines the relationship between coping styles, genetic testing results, and anxiety in women with an elevated risk of ovarian or breast cancer. Findings indicate that a high monitoring coping style and a positive test result for a genetic mutation related to cancer risk are associated with increased anxiety.

Perceived control, coping efficacy, and avoidance coping as mediators between spouses' unsupportive behaviors and cancer patients' psychological distress

Article Abstract:

Research indicates a direct relationship between spousal negative response and patient psychological distress as well as patient negative coping efforts. Studies were based on 191 married persons with cancer receiving treatment.
