Emergency medical service and in-hospital vital signs as predictors of subsequent PTSD symptom severity in pediatric injury patients

Article Abstract:

A study systematically examines the extent to which heart rate (HR) levels in child trauma victims assessed at numerous times post-trauma associated with increased risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptom severity in 82 children aged 8-18. Results suggest that physiological arousal soon after a traumatic event may be associated with increased risk for the development of PTSD symptoms in child trauma victims.
