Ethnic and racial similarity in developmental process: a study of academic achievement

Article Abstract:

A study of the academic achievement and family environment measures in a sample of Hispanic, black and white subjects revealed correlations between developmental processes and academic excellence in these ethnic groups to be similar. A structural equation model with four free variables was joined efficiently to a correlation matrix across all subjects, thereby clarifying the lack of race-specific developmental processes.

Does the gun pull the trigger? Automatic priming effects of weapon pictures and weapon names

Article Abstract:

Word pronunciation task experiments were conducted to evaluate earlier findings indicating that the presence of a weapon increases the aggressive behavior of subjects. The explanation for this phenomenon is priming. The identification of a weapon makes aggressive thoughts more accessible. The results of the word pronunciation task experiments reveal that the sight of a weapon primes thoughts related to aggression.

School context and genetic influences on aggression in adolescence

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze genetic and environmental contributions to differences in aggression. Adolescents' self-reports of aggressive behavior were examined. Results indicated two effects on school means. Schools with greater ethnic-racial heterogeneity hd higher mean levels of aggression. Findings also showed that schools where students viewed greater family warmth had lower mean levels of aggression.
