False memories lack perceptual detail: Evidence from implicit word-stem completion and perceptual identification tests

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to thoroughly test the implicit associative response (IAR)/ imagery account of perceptual critical item priming. The study concluded that false memories do not inherently contain structural and perceptual information and past reports of critical item priming relied on implicit tests more prone to conceptual activation.

The effect of general knowledge on source memory and decision processes

Article Abstract:

The effect of semantic information on episodic source decisions is examined. A robust schema-related response bias in source monitoring was demonstrated and it was further observed that when schemas were present only during retrieval, the response bias was more likely to occur.

The roles of associative strength and source memorability in the contextualization of false memory

Article Abstract:

The impact of associative strength and retrieval heuristics in false source memory is tested. It is demonstrated that source details of concepts most highly related to critical items are retrieved with false memories.
