Global transformations and intimate relations in the 21st century: Social science research on sexuality and the emergence of sexual health and sexual rights frameworks

Article Abstract:

The conjunction between the social, cultural, political, and economic changes taking place on a global level and the shift in sexuality research from primarily biomedical and behavioral concerns to those of rights and social justice is presented. Particular attention is paid to how transnational public health and human rights discourses, and social movements concerned with gender inequality and the oppression of sexual minorities, have influenced the field of sexuality research.

Sexual behavior in same-sexed nonhuman primates: is it relevant to understanding human homosexuality?

Article Abstract:

This article examines same-sex sexual behavior among nonhuman primates and humans. The authors argue that human homosexuality is too complex to be compared with nonhuman primate same-sex sexual behavior in that societal perceptions cannot be addressed in nonhuman primate communities.

Sexuality, culture, and political economy: recent developments in anthropological and cross-cultural sex research

Article Abstract:
