Illness-specific catastrophic thinking and overperception in asthma

Article Abstract:

The significance of illness-specific catastrophic thinking in perception on asthma symptoms is examined. Findings show that catastrophic thinking is associated with increased emotional symptoms when patients are not having exacerbation. The improtance of understanding catastrophic thinking indeveloping psychological interventions is discussed.

Why do people with an anxiety disorder utilize more nonmental health care than those without?

Article Abstract:

Higher utilization of medical care can not be explained by anxiety symptoms but comorbidity level partially accounted for the relationship between anxiety disorder and medical care use. A sample of patients from the database of a multi-specialty practice was surveyed to produce the conclusions.

Misremembering colostomies? Former patients give lower utility ratings than do current patients

Article Abstract:

Using a study of colostomy patients, the discrepancies in the attitudes of patients and nonpatients with respect to health and ailments are examined. The impact of their experiences with health conditions on their respective assessments of quality of life are also examined.
