In what ways are adolescents who engage in self-harm or experience thoughts of self-harm different in terms of help-seeking, communication and coping strategies?

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine whether adolescents who harmed themselves or had thoughts of self-harm differed from other adolescents in terms of help-seeking, communication and coping strategies. Adolescents with one or more episodes of deliberate self-harm (DSH) were more likely to identify themselves as having serious problems than other adolescents.

Attachment contexts of adolescent friendship and romance

Article Abstract:

Memories of attachments with parents, friends and romantic partners are compared with high school friendship and romantic relationships. Correlations between attachment scores and relationship outcomes can occur because attachment beliefs guide relationship behaviour.

Ethnic identity and self-esteem: examining the role of social context

Ethnic identity and self-esteem of 1062 Mexican-origin adolescents who attended one of three schools varying in their ethnic composition, is explored. Insight into the role of social context among Mexican-origin adolescents ethnic identity is provided.
