Is it beneficial to involve a family member? A meta-analysis of psychosocial interventions for chronic illness

Article Abstract:

A meta-analytic study comparing the links between chronic illness and family relationships, which lead to psychosocial interventions in addition to usual medical care, is presented. The results show that aggregate effects for patients and family members were small in magnitude but consistent with the findings of the other psychosocial approaches to treating chronic illness.
