Job strain and risk indicators for cardiovascular disease in young female nurses

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of job-related stress and social support on risk factors related to heart disease in female nurses. Results indicate that job demands and workplace support had no effect on insulin levels, total cholesterol, blood pressure, and other heart disease risk indicators in healthy nurses.

Toward a theory-based analysis of behavioral maintenance

Article Abstract:

The effect of dominant models of health behavior change on the initiation and maintenance of a new pattern of behavior is discussed. An alternative framework is proposed based on the premise that the criteria leading people to initiate behavioral change differ from those that lead them to maintain that behavior.
