Judgement and response processes across two knowledge domains

Article Abstract:

Greater mean distance between the true and false statement distributions of confidence was evident in the better known domain. Judged confidence variability is more evident in the domain of greater knowledge, while criterion variability is constant across domains. Respondents, developing simple judgements in numerous knowledge domains, fix response criteria locations to a standard level with consistent variance, unconstrained by the earlier stages of the judgement process.
