Memory and the self

Article Abstract:

The Self-Memory System (SMS) is a conceptual framework that emphasizes the interconnectedness of self and memory, where memory is viewed as the data base of the self and the self is conceived as a complex set of active goals and associated self-images, collectively referred to as the working-self. Conceptual knowledge about an individual's life is the later evolutionary development and it allows long-term goal processing and the emergence of a conceptual self, both are arguably, uniquely human characteristics.

The foundations of spelling ability: evidence from a 3-year longitudinal study

Article Abstract:

British school children who became skilled spellers demonstrated a foundation in phonological transcoding ability that in turn helped form orthographic representations. Increasingly complex orthographic patterns in children's spelling appear to be learned through experience and teaching in spelling and reading.

The neuroanatomy of autobiographical memory: a slow cortical potential study of autobiographical memory retrieval

Article Abstract:

Research in memory recall tracked through electroencephalography suggests negativity in the left frontal lobes indicates cortical activation during complex retrieval, while later occipital and temporal negativity indicates formation and maintenance of a specific memory.
