Are negative affective states associated with HIV sexual risk behaviors?: a meta-analytic review

Article Abstract:

This study focuses on cognitive and behavioral factors that may decrease high-risk sex behaviors, focusing on the relationship between negative affective psychology and sexual behavior. Findings suggest that depression, anxiety and anger do not appear to be associated with greater sexual risk behaviors.

Negative affect and sexual risk behavior: comment on Crepaz and Marks (2001)

Article Abstract:

This article comments on the findings of N. Crepaz and G. Marks on the role of negative mental states on sexual risk behavior. The authors argue that current measurements of negative affect may be inadequate to fully understand the relationship between affective states and sexual risk.

Meta-analysis of cognitive-behavioral interventions on HIV-positive person's metal health and immune functioning

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral interventions (CBIs) in improving the immune functioning and mental health oof HIV patients is analyzed. Results showed that CBIs improved the patients' symptoms of depression, anger, stress and anxiety. The significance of stress management skills training and the number of intervention sessions on the effectiveness of CBIs are also examined.
