No evidence for a selective processing of subliminally presented body words in restrained eaters

Article Abstract:

Researchers investigated the possibility of restrained eaters giving unusual attention to words concerning weight or body shape during information processing at the automatic stage. They tested a group of 13 individuals with high eating restraints, and a group of 15 individuals with low eating restraints, using supraliminal and subliminal presentation of words in a Stroop test. They found no differences between the two groups in their processing of the words concerning weight or body shape.

Neuroticism and conscientiousness as predictors of emotional, external, and restrained eating behaviors

Article Abstract:

Research into the extent to which external, emotional and restrained eating behaviours are situated within a mainstream personality taxonomy among a non-clinical sample is presented. It was found that scores on the emotional and external scales seem to load on a single dimension and together are linked with a particular set of personality traits.
