On the relationship between dieting and "obese" and bulimic eating patterns

Article Abstract:

Laboratory experiments have found that overeating occurs when several disinhibitors of restraint overcome emotional, external and restrained eating and bulimic behaviors. Using the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire and the Eating Disorders Inventory (EDI), the relationships between such behaviors and body dissatisfaction and drive for thinness were analyzed. The results validate previous studies and has put into question the specificity of using the EDI in psychological analyses of eating disorders.
