Hypophosphatemia secondary to oral refeeding in anorexia nervosa

Issues are presented concerning the incidence of the refeeding syndrome and hypophosphatemia among patients receiveing intravenous fluids and feeding, and those receiving oral refeeding alone.

Parental medical neglect in the treatment of adolescents with anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

Research examining the effects of parental medical neglect on the treatment of patients with anorexia nervosa is presented. Two cases of female adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa and whose parents did not follow the medical advice are studied.

Can steroid use be a precipitant in the development of an eating disorder?

Article Abstract:

An evaluation of three case studies is conducted to examine the extent to which use of steroids can be linked with the developement of eating disorders. The study finds that weight gain resulting from steroid use may precipitate the onset of an eating disorder.
