Patterns of food selection during binges in women with binge eating disorder

Article Abstract:

The food selection and temporal consumption patterns of obese subjects with binge eating disorder (BED) were examined. Ten obese women with BED and 10 weight-matched women without BED were given a multiple-item meal and were instructed to binge. BED subjects, non-BED subjects and normal weight controls were found to be similar in terms of food choices and time spent in eating. However, BED subjects showed greater preference for meat than non-BED subjects.
