Parenting, coparenting, and effortful control in preschoolers

Article Abstract:

An investigation regarding the relations among parenting, coparenting and effortful control in 3-year-old children is performed. Result shows that coparenting contributes to effortful control over and above maternal and paternal parenting indicating the importance and complementary nature of parent reports and observation and highlighting the importance of coparenting to the development of effortful control.

Perceived parental differential treatment in middle adulthood: curvilinear relations with individuals' experienced relationship quality to sibling and parents

Article Abstract:

A study conducted by using multi-informant, longitudinal design to investigate the relation between parenting behaviors and co-occurring internalizing and externalizing problems in a large, community-based sample of African American children and their families is presented. Various findings of the study are presented.

Family functioning and children's adjustment: Association among parents depressed mood, marital hostility, parent-child hostility and children's adjustment

Article Abstract:

The relations between parents' depressed mood, marital conflict, parent-child hostility and children's adjustment were examined. The result indicated that both mothers and fathers marital hostility were linked to parent-child hostility which was linked to children's internalizing problems.
