Parenting style, individuation, and mental health of Egyptian adolescents

Article Abstract:

Three questionnaires administering Egyptian adolescents measure parenting style, adolescent-family connectedness and mental health. Results revealed that in rural communities the authoritarian style is more predominant in the parenting of male adolescents, in urban communities the authoritarian style was more predominant in the parenting of female adolescents, female adolescents were more connected to their family compared to male adolescents and mental health was associated with authoritative parenting but not with authoritarian parenting.

Childhood discipline, perceptions of parents, and current functioning in female college students

Article Abstract:

A study examined the relationships among the childhood discipline style experienced by female college students, their perception about their parents and their current functioning. Results of the study indicated that female college student's report of childhood discipline, their perception about their parents and their outcomes were related uniquely when examining responses for mothers and fathers.

Recollections of parent characteristics and attachment patterns for college women of intact vs. non-intact families

Article Abstract:

A study contrasted offsprings' attachment patterns and recollections of parent characteristics in two college samples of intact and non-intact families. Secure females from intact- or non-intact families rated parents positively, whereas insecure females rated parents as absent, distant and demanding.
