Patterns of anogenial swelling and their endocrine correlate during ovulatory cycles and early pregnancy in free-ranging Barbary macaques (Macaca Sylvanus) of Gibraltar

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to provide basic data on the characteristic of anogenital swellings (AS) and its endocrine correlates in normally reproducing female Barbary macaques. The study is the first attempt to characterize swelling patterns and their endocrine correlates during ovarian cycles and early pregnancy in naturally reproducing female Barbary macaques.

The function of teeth chattering in male Barbary Macaques (Macaca sylvanus)

Article Abstract:

The aim of the observational study was to test a specific hypothesis relating to the function of teeth chattering in a semi-free-ranging group of male Barbary Macaques. The results suggest that teeth chattering serve an important role in coordinating the social actions of male Barbary Macaques.
