Patterns of male residency and intergroup transfer in gray-cheeked mangabeys (Lophocebus albigena)

Article Abstract:

The movements and fates of 36 collared gray-cheeked male mangabeys (Lophocebus albigena) that resided in seven social groups in Kibale National Park, Uganda are described. The emigration and immigration in mangabeys (Lophocebus albigena) were not seasonal, they emigrated singly and apparently independently, but immigrations were clumped in time and the dispersal contributed to considerable heterogeneity of group composition.

Female sooty mangabeys (cerocebus torquatus atys) respond differently to males depending on the male's residence status-preliminary data

Article Abstract:

A playback experiment was designed to test whether adult females with young infants respond differently to calls from resident or part-time resident males and neighbors or strangers. The females showed a clear difference in their reaction to the playbacks of vocalizations from resident and part-time resident males as opposed to nonresidents.
