Perception and judgments of the economic system

Article Abstract:

Ordinary people's perceptions of various economic concepts and judgments of the economic system held by Poles and what the ideal socioeconomic system should be, are investigated. Findings indicate that people generally group issues commonly experienced whether or not they have economic significance or possess a logical order. The Poles indicate only moderate support for the national economy's pro-market transformation. Economic well-being is associated more with education and less with income.

Advertising and publicity: an information processing perspective

Article Abstract:

The characteristics of advertising and publicity are studied in terms of consumers' motivation and information processing ability. Advertising has an advantage over publicity since it allows for more repetitions and thus increases comprehensibility. On the other hand, publicity is more effective in arousing motivation due to credibility and setting advantages and other factors. Knowledge of the impact of different promotional tools can be useful in designing effective promotional strategies.

Economics of information and heterogeneous products

Article Abstract:

Stigler's economics of information model was used to test consumers' search for heterogeneous products. A survey-based measure of information search was used and respondents were asked how many searches they would undertake prior to searching. Results support the hypothesis that actual search is positively related to optimal search and Ratchford's contention that limited search may very well reflect optimizing behaviour is also proved.
