Incarcerated men and the perceived sources of their loneliness

Article Abstract:

The perceived causes of loneliness reported by male inmates differ from those of men in the general public. Inmates reported unfulfilling relationships and personal inadequacies significantly more than the general population. Inmates react to loneliness with aggression, contributing to unfulfilling interpersonal relationships. Further research is needed to determine whether the crime an offender committed influences their perception of loneliness.

The freedom from violence program: an untraditional approach to violence management

Article Abstract:

The Freedom from Violence Program counsels groups of prison inmates in behavior modification to control violent impulses. The inmates actively participate, attendance is high, and they rarely drop out. The program has been successful in teaching inmates to listen, concentrate, to express their emotions, increase self-esteem, and reduce stress.
