Procedural debiasing of primacy/anchoring effects in clinical-like judgments

Article Abstract:

Primacy effects in clinical judgment take place at an initial phase which affects a judgment in comparison to the impact of the same information given at a later stage. Three debiasing methods were evolved and examined for their suitability by using the latest theoretical models of these effects. Both single-cue and sequence anchoring manipulations generate medium size impacts on personality trait ratings and can be generalized to predictions of behavior.

Cross-cultural studies with the Conners Rating Scales

Article Abstract:

The Conners Rating Scale should be used with caution for cross-cultural research. Indian teachers see a slightly different pattern of problems in comparison to American teachers and some of the scales lose their psychometric independence when employed in India. It may be required to evolve observational items directly from the cultural group under investigation instead of doing new factor analyses of the same items to rectify this problem.
