The three r's: roles, relationships, and rules

Article Abstract:

No single code of ethics embodies all the issues that confront rural mental health professionals especially on practical decision-making. Establishing the demarcation line between professional and personal relationships is already a complex task in itself. Essentially, compliance with professional guidelines depends on the mental health provider's discrimination. One's moral and ethical values determine one's own code of practice.

Managed mental health care: conflicts of interest in the provider/client relationship

Article Abstract:

The level of service accorded by healthcare providers to mentally ill patients enrolled in managed care programs depends on several factors which have long been ignored. These include personal values, financial interests and societal interests. All these lead to a conflict of interests which, in turn, induce them to promote either their economic advancement, their clients' welfare or the general good of the community.
