Relative reinforcing value of exercise in inpatients with anorexia nervosa: Model development and pilot data

Article Abstract:

The reinforcing value of exercise, defined as the amount of work a patient would expend for the opportunity to exercise, was quantified among patients hospitalized or the treatment of anorexia nervosa (AN). The association between exercise and depression was found to be consistent with earlier data of AN and the trend toward an association with CES scores suggests that breakpoint captures an aspect of the motivation for exercise in this population.

Translational approaches to understanding anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

The pursuit of translational research provides an opportunity to develop novel insights and approaches to understanding, treating, and ultimately preventing the development of anorexia nervosa. Researches using animal models of food restriction and overeating and the application of advances in the neurobiology of emotion and learning to better understanding of eating disorders are discussed.

A review and primer of molecular genetic studies of anorexia nervosa

Article Abstract:

Anorexia nervosa (AN) research has focused on examining the genetic underpinnings of its etiology. Molecular genetic studies that have focused on this aspect of AN development is discussed and the main aim is to review the studies to determine the understanding of the genetic diathesis of AN.
