The incidence and course of PTSD

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the long-term impact of a disaster experienced in adolescence are discussed. Adolescents who have experienced a major life-threatening trauma have a higher incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder than has previously been recognized.

Issues concerning the impact on children and teenagers of exposure to trauma are discussed. Assessment and treatment of disaster survivors should consider both post-traumatic stress disorder and other sorts of mental health difficulty.

Risk factors for long-term psychological effects of a disaster experienced in adolescence: predictors of post traumatic stress disorder

Article Abstract:

This article examines factors associated with the development of post traumatic stress disorder in British adults who experienced a shipping accident during adolescence. Findings indicate that factors like psychological and learning disorders, female gender, domestic violence exposure, and social support were associated with the development of post traumatic stress disorder.
