Seclusion as therapeutic management: an invited commentary

Article Abstract:

Seclusion is a therapeutic method in the social development of psychosocially impaired children if it is used as a means of instilling a sense of control in the child. It may be implemented as a form of minor penalty in which the child is allowed to take time off to control behavior that is considered disruptive or maladaptive. The conditions for seclusion should also be safe and reassuring so that the child does not lose a sense of dignity during the term of seclusion.

"Recreating mother": a commentary on the case analysis

Article Abstract:

Clinicians are advised to be empathetic, if not knowledgeable, about the influence of alternative parenting style and genuine gender attributes when dealing with clients who are the products of a homosexual household. It does not help to hold on to stereotyped gender identifications of what is masculine or feminine. It is imperative that clinicians get over their biases and preconceptions to deal effectively with the psychological implications of homosexuality.
