South African children's views of wealth, poverty, inequality and unemployment

Article Abstract:

The understanding of wealth, poverty, inequality and unemployment in South African Black children drawn from a rural, an urban and a semi-urban setting was investigated. Findings indicated that the particulars of the children's knowledge about wealth, poverty, inequality and unemployment were influenced by their social environment. However, in line with past studies, the findings indicate that the children's capacity to make inferences and integrate information about these concepts is more affected by age than by their social environment.

'Wallbanking,' innovativeness and computer attitudes: 25-40-year-old ATM-users on the spot

Article Abstract:

The frequency of the use of ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) by 25-40 year-olds is largely influenced by the attitude towards wallbanking, and the impression that innovations are extravagant. It is also indirectly dependent on what income bracket the user belongs, as well as his educational attainment and degree of urbanization. However, there is no link between the habit of dealing finances via the ATM and computer attitudes. The kind of financial services offered also affects the frequency of usage.

A unified Europe? How Euro-attitudes relate to psychological differences between countries

Article Abstract:

Differences among EU member countries in terms of attitudes toward Economic and Monetary Union were substantiated by extended research on the euro as the symbol of European unification. Multi-dimensional scaling and structural equation modeling identified five possible regional groupings, except for the UK and Ireland, that were defined by national economic pride and satisfaction, self-confident open-mindedness and progressive non-nationalistic.
